doreen dodgen-magee, psy.d. is an award winning author, speaker, & psychologist. she has traveled the globe researching and speaking about how technology affects our brains and bodies, our relationships, and the development of our sense of self. she is the author of deviced! balancing life and technology in a digital world which was awarded the 2019 gold nautilus prize for psychology. doreen spends her time thinking about how boredom, inconvenience, and discomfort might just serve as perfect muses worthy of moderating our technology use for. she loves strong coffee, dancing, her meditation cushion, and people…especially people. she lives in portland, oregon.

I stand against the injustice and violence and brutality on Black people that is going on and has been going on for centuries upon centuries, upon which countries have been built. This hour is steeped in my commitment and responsibility to be anti-racist, to contribute to social justice and freedom, to keep learning and taking action so as not to contribute to perpetuating the violence and systemic injustice, inequities and biases facing Black Lives, Indigenous Lives and on the lives of people of colour.

Kicking off the series ‘Voices That Create Change ‘ is Pam Dunn in conversation.
Her presence fills the airwaves as does her humour, insight and experience as an educator, guiding teacher and facilitator with youth and their communities and with individuals of all ages, genders and cultures. I hope you can take time to listen to Pam Dunn’s inspiring words and mastery.

Pam Dunn is a leader and teacher trainer for Challenge Day, whose mission is to provide youth and their communities with experiential programs that demonstrate the possibility of love and connection through the celebration of diversity, truth, and full expression. She has worked with more than 100,000 youth in middle schools and high schools across the United States, Europe, and Canada. Her work with youth was recently featured in the Dutch Documentary series “Over De Streep (Cross the Line).”

In addition to her work with Challenge Day, Dunn is a guiding teacher for Mindful Schools, and she has been a lead facilitator and curriculum developer for Be Present, Inc. (BPI), supporting individuals of all ages, genders, and cultures in developing leadership in their own lives as well as in their families and communities.

Pam Dunn has consulted with numerous youth and family service agencies on youth program development, staff training, and program evaluation, including the Family Childcare Training Project, The Mind Body Awareness Project, The Edgewood Center for Children & Families, Mission Neighborhood Centers, & Urban Tilth.
