<p><span title="Edited">I’m back from the 5th annual Women’s Podcast Festival-Werk It, produced by WNYC Studios. I listened and learned, and a few things in particular have stuck with me, including gratitude. So glad to be hosting and producing my indie podcast and for the dear people that listen and subscribe and who are patrons too (<a href="http://www.patreon.com/julieinconversation" target="_blank" rel="noopener">patreon.com/julieinconversation</a>).<br />
</span></p>
<p><span title="Edited">Before I was about to launch into my previous podcast series (39 episodes worth) <a class="" href="https://juliecusmariu.com/category/julie-in-conversation-motherhood/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">#Motherhood</a><a class="" href="https://www.instagram.com/explore/tags/letscreateavillage/">#LetsCreateAVillage</a> in November 2017, I hosted a solo show asking “Does the world need another podcast?” I was really just asking out loud, should I be doing this thing? Still? Now ? Even when everyone and their neighbour is podcasting ?<br />
Don’t we have enough to listen to? In this age of ‘over’ consumption, unlimited distractions and things to watch and listen to in any and every moment? </span></p>
<p><span title="Edited">Then, to reaffirm my questioning, during the welcome and opening remarks of the <a href="http://www.werktifestival.com" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Werk It festival</a>, Depelsha McGruder, Chief Operating Officer of New York Public Radio shared these stats with us:</span></p>
<p><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/72x72/2b50.png" alt="⭐" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" />22 % of Americans are now listening to podcasts on a weekly basis. ( I’m Canadian and I don’t have those stats for Canadians or other countries but must be quite similar).</p>
<p><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/72x72/2b50.png" alt="⭐" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" />There are more than 700 000 podcasts available (I’m assuming worldwide).</p>
</div>
<div></div>
<div class="C4VMK"><span title="Edited"><span title="Edited">and get this&#8230;</span></span></div>
<div class="C4VMK"><span title="Edited"><span title="Edited"><br />
<img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/72x72/2b50.png" alt="⭐" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" />There are 29 million episodes available to choose from (in 2019). </span></span></div>
<div></div>
<div></div>
<div class="C4VMK">So, my podcast is one of 700 000! My episodes are part of the 29 million! Clearly there is no lack of options. What is also clear is that voices and stories make a crucial difference. There is an audience that will be impacted and touched by your voice, your story. There are listeners that will find benefit and pleasure and satisfaction to listening in. In mine and in yours and in theirs.</div>
<div></div>
<div class="C4VMK">So here’s to all the podcast creators representing and here’s to using your voice and broadcasting it ( if you feel called to).</div>
<div></div>
<div class="C4VMK">Thanks Werk It for the stats and the industry experience.</div>
<div></div>
<div class="C4VMK"><span title="Edited">Thank you for listening and being part of the <a href="http://www.JulieinConversation.com" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Julie in Conversation</a> audio experience, sharing and listening to voices that create change, while opening minds and hearts. Cheers. <img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/72x72/270c.png" alt="✌" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /> Tune in wherever you find your podcasts, <a href="https://www.spreaker.com/show/julie-in-conversation" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Spreaker,</a> Spotify, Stitcher, Apple Podcasts and <a href="http://www.JulieinConversation.com" target="_blank" rel="noopener">here.</a></span></div>

<div class="">I’m still being being danced by this song and this night (Dance Your Intuition ). I’m thankful for that.  A few days ago I was home (like many Montrealers, on a snowy icy day when school was cancelled ) with my beautiful highly spirited boys, 7 and 5 years old, feeling desperate (dramatic, I know, but it felt dramatic, relatively speaking of course) for space, support, the ‘village’, to come in and take over with plans and games and social connection. It was one of those days when I needed to dig deep. I mean that can feel like a perpetual state (It’s not perpetual but pretty consistent. Reliable. What is.) for me as I navigate motherhood and womanhood and being human really, as I am. And so the attempt to ‘be with’ rather than ‘struggle against ‘ was strong. Humbling always.</div>
<div class=""></div>
<div class="">Fast forward to just the next day and Dance Your Intuition, the evening I host monthly, happened and I found freedom again. I showed up, beautiful women showed up to dance and we let go.</div>
<div class=""></div>
<div class="">Embodiment can not be understated. Being grounded in our body, feeling, moving, expressing heals, resolves things, transforms us, and brings perspective, freedom, pleasure and connection to ourself and the other.</div>
<div class="">We can come to neutral. Our <a href="https://juliecusmariu.com/2018/05/creativity-and-intuition/intuition-trusting-yourself-moment-to-moment/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">intuition</a> can be heard in this place.</div>
<div class=""></div>
<div class="">Saturday February 16 is the next Dance Your Intuition in Montreal. I hope you join us. Let the mental chatter melt away even if for two hours together on a Saturday night. Come dance out of your comfort zone, connect to yourself, be yourself.</div>

<p>I took a moment (and captured it) before <a href="http://www.danceyourintuition.com" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dance Your Intuition</a> January 2019 began. Thank you to the beautiful women who took the time out and showed up for themselves. We all benefited as a result. <br class="" /><br class="" />Honouring our body wisdom, our intuition, the nudges from within, what’s wanting to be expressed, felt, moved, discovered and danced. Doing this, practicing this, committing to ourself enables us to be ourself. The presence, the person that impacts and creates positive change and healing in our own life and those we connect with each day. Here’s to trusting yourself and knowing yourself and being curious about yourself and the other. <br class="" /><br class="" />We had the chance to let go of the self protection and self judgement, to create space, to open to freedom and the pleasure and experience of being grounded and in our bodies. A moment to intentionally feel and connect to who we are.</p>
<p>The next dance event is February.<a href="http://www.juliecusmariu.com/contact" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> Send me a message</a> to let me know you want to join. I would love to welcome you.</p>
